It consists of an objective Paper 1 and a qualifying descriptive Paper 2, testing general knowledge, reasoning, numerical, and language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Indian citizen or a citizen of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962.
- Age Limit:
- 18 to 25 years (Some posts allow up to 27 years)
- Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST, OBC, PwD, and other reserved categories as per government norms.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th grade) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board by the application deadline.
Exam Pattern
a. Paper 1 (Computer-Based Test)
- – **Nature:** Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
- – **Duration:** 90 minutes (120 minutes for candidates eligible for scribes) –
- -**Sections & Marks:** – General English: 25 questions (25 marks) – General Intelligence & Reasoning: 25 questions (25 marks) – Numerical Aptitude: 25 questions (25 marks) – General Awareness: 25 questions (25 marks) –

- – **Negative Marking:** 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
b. Paper 2 (Descriptive Test)
- – **Nature:** Descriptive (pen-and-paper mode)
- – **Purpose:** Qualifying in nature, to test basic writing skills.
- – **Task:** Short Essay/Letter in English or any language listed in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
- – **Duration:** 30 minutes (40 minutes for candidates eligible for scribes)
- – **Marks:** 50
Syllabus Overview
- General English: Basics of English grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, and sentence structure.
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: Questions on similarities, differences, problem-solving, judgment, spatial visualization, analogies, and classification.
- Numerical Aptitude: Arithmetic, number systems, percentage, ratio, time and work, profit and loss, interest, averages, and basic algebra.
- General Awareness: Knowledge of current events, history, geography, culture, environment, scientific research, and Indian economy.

Selection Process & Final Merit List
Paper 1: Candidates must score above the category-based cutoff to qualify for Paper 2.
- Paper 2: Qualifying in nature. Marks are considered only for tie-breaking.
- Final Merit List: Based on Paper 1 scores. Candidates who meet the required cutoff in Paper 1 and qualify in Paper 2 will be considered for selection.
